This show has been on my “Need to watch” list forever. And I just never got around to watching it…Until a couple of days ago. A good friend of mine invited me over to her house to check out this new 3D printing pen she got from amazon, and while we were using it, she decided to turn on, yup, you guessed it, The Dragon Prince. And I immediately fell in love with this show. On top of that, it was made by the same people who made Avatar: The Last Airbender. So of course I had to review it.
So let’s get to it shall we?
First off, can I say that I adore the fact that the voice actor of Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender voices Calem? The instant I heard him speak, I literally squealed “Oh my god! That’s Sokka!” That most definitely made my day.
I also love the aesthetic in this show. From how the humans look, to the Elves. They are so uniquely crafted and I love how just the setting itself looks. I can’t imagine how Sadiya is going to look when Calem and the gang finally get there. And did I mention their weapons?? Oh I see a Moon Shadow Elf build in my future.
Another thing I loved about the so far first season–because they only give us nine episodes, is the story line. My goodness, just nine episodes and they’ve woven in so much. You really get enticed by the storyline from the get go. Especially with the folklore they immediate introduce. Not to mention, as any good show will do, you already are given a character pretty quickly to loathe. But I won’t say who so I don’t spoil.
Probably the only thing I found that I didn’t like about this show so far, is…it only has nine episodes so far! I mean c’mon Netflix! You can’t just build it up like that and leave me hanging! If your are going to get someone hooked on a series, at least have twelve episodes out. At least.
As for the Meh, probably the only “Meh” thing about it was we get to find out that Calem is the King’s Stepson right from the get go, but as the episodes go on, we don’t get any information on how he landed in the castle. Was it because his mother married the king? Was he adopted? I myself, am not sure. But hopefully when we get more episodes we will find out.
How’d I do? Do you agree with my review? Do you think I missed something? Let’s talk about it!
