Have I ever mentioned how much I adore genderbending characters for cosplay? Because it is such a fun task to do. Not to mention a great artistic experience for a cosplayer.
I mean, Bowsette last year, was a great example. A comic artist took a beloved Super Mario character and turned him, into a her. And the whole cosplay community exploded!
Because there’s just something addicting and intriguing to it. Hence my post a few months ago: https://quotablecreations.com/2018/10/31/internet-rule-63-and-cosplay/
And the Bowsette creation was the one of the main reasons I decided to create my genderbend of Shy Guy: Shy Gal! That, and I think the adorable, little masked character deserves more love.
This one was also mainly a closet cosplay consisting of a long, red shirt that I had, and my brown jeans that I somehow manage to incorporate into almost every closet cosplay. (It’s a gift I tell you! Or curse…)
Anyway! Probably the only items I made for this cosplay was the Mask–which was actually really fun to make, just 6mm foam, measure my face, and poof! mask! Well, that and I primed and painted it. But, that goes without saying.
I also made the gold belt too! That’s were Eva foam clay comes in handy! It’s a hate and love thing with that material though….I’ll more than likely post on that in a few days.
Something really awesome I learned with this cosplay though–aside from genderbent cosplays are extremely fun to do. Is if you take a simple walk around where you live, you can find the coolest places to do cosplay shoots. For this one, I found the cutest gazebo just a couple blocks away!
I usually go with a pro photographer for my shoots but, this time I had the help of my awesome mom and I edited the pictures on my own. And with how they turned out…I think I might do it more often!
