Tik Tok, Tik Tok, goes the clock! Heh, as much fun as that rhyme is I’m not talking about a clock. Nope, in this article I’m going to talk about the social media app Tik Tok!
What is Tik Tok?
Some of you may be wondering this app exactly is. well, it’s rather simple really. Tik Tok–which used to go under the name Musical.ly is an social media app that contains thousands of soundbites that anyone can use and film themselves lipsyncing to.
The soundbites can be up to 15 seconds long each and can even upload your soundbites to the Tik Tok library to do your own sounds. It even increases the Tik Tok library so others can do their own interpretation on your soundbite as well.
In Tik Tok any kind of soundbite is possible to find too. From comedy bit, movie lines, even ASMR has appeared on this app. But the thing that has gotten my attention is how many cosplayers are on Tik Tok. Which brings me to why I’m writing this article….
Tik Tok is “music” to Cosplayer’s ears
Heh, gotta love those puns. Anyways, Cosplayers have been a big hit on Tik Tok. It gives us a chance to find a fun soundbite that matches the character we are dressed up as.
It also gives Cosplayers a chance to not only have fun with said soundbite, but they get to improve their acting chops by doing these soundbites. Since they’re acting as their character through these sounds.
Artistic ability comes into play with this app as well. It allows Cosplayers to interpret each soundbite with their actions as they wish. As an example I have this TIk Tok that I, myself did in my Zexion cosplay
It’s not from Kingdom Hearts at all, yet I act as how I believe Zexion would act doing this soundbite. And good god is it fun.
In fact, God tier cosplayers such as Sakuraflorr and Dirty_Shinobi use Tik Tok and further make their amazingly built cosplays more vivid and lifelike. Almost as if we as viewers, are watching the actual character perform right in front of us.
Not only is it fun for the viewers who are wathcing these awesome 15 second clips, but it is fun for the Cosplayers as well. It opens new artistic avenues and lets them get more into character. But, not only is Tik Tok fun for Cosplayers, its fun for those who don’t Cosplay as well. Anyone who just wants to have fun and test their acting chops Tik Tok is perfect.
